Shooting Stars

No longer by our side, forever in our hearts.

Eko was born at Windevers Kennel, and from the moment she came home, she was full of attitude — the best kind of attitude — always keeping us on our toes. Even as a puppy, she insisted on walking herself and didn’t think she needed any help learning to swim, showing her independent spirit early on. Despite her determined streak, she was incredibly loyal, never wandering too far on trails and always looking back to make sure we were nearby. Her voice was another part of her personality we loved — she had a way of letting us know exactly how she felt, whether it was “I want food” or “I want cuddles.” And her helicopter tail, brought endless joy and laughter. She adored cuddles and being close to us, and through every moment Eko remained her determined, loving self. Even though we miss her deeply, she will always have a special place in our hearts.

Bear made his way to us all the way from Slovakia. He was our first ever male dog, and he quickly became the mascot of our kennel — a presence that brought joy to everyone who met him.  He was a majestic and gentle dog, known for his expressive eyes and his big, loving heart. Bear had a special way of showing his emotions, often howling with excitement. During the summer months, he revealed one of his peculiarities — a fear of flies. Whenever he heard that familiar buzzing, he would quietly retreat to the walk-in shower. One of Bear’s greatest joys was running free. The instant he realized he was off leash, his playful energy burst forth into zoomies, racing back and forth across the property and splashing through the spring water with pure happiness. Bear’s warmth, spirit, and charm left a lasting mark on all who knew him. He will always be remembered as a happy, majestic soul who filled every day with love and light.

Piper was a special girl in our kennel — our very first Bernese Mountain Dog. From the moment she joined our family, we knew it was meant to be. We instantly fell in love with her and with the breed. She was so full of life — always seeking snuggles, love, and of course, food! Piper was quick to learn, excelling in obedience and agility. She had a playful spirit, often wandering off to visit her neighborhood dog friend, which usually ended with us searching for her. But she always knew her way home. Piper taught us a lot, and thanks to her adventures, we soon learned the importance of fencing the yard with chicken wire! Her eyes could reach right into your soul — she had the most unforgettable stare. Despite struggling with frequent hot spots and discomfort, Piper handled everything with such grace, patience, and strength. Even through her pain, she remained our bright, loving, and resilient girl.Piper will always hold a very special place in our hearts. She was the start of something beautiful — the beginning of our love for Bernese Mountain Dogs — and her spirit will forever be part of our family.

Willow came into our lives when she was just seven weeks old, and though we only had a few short months with her, she left an unforgettable markon our hearts. Willow spent a lot of time at home, forming a wonderful bond with the family. The household enjoyed teaching Willow new things — even fun tricks like playing dead — revealing intelligence and eagerness to learn. Training for agility quickly showed remarkable drive and smarts, a reminder that even a Bernese Mountain Dog can be surprisingly agile. Willow’s courage was undeniable, even in her final moments, when she protected Koda from danger, pushing her out of the road and showing her protective instinct. Though her time was brief, Willow’s love, spirit, and courage live on, filling our hearts with lasting gratitude and cherished memories.
